Eternal Me

—Chasa Habib

I was born in the attic of a lie
where clocks bled mercury and teeth sang lullabies.
My cradle was a moth’s open wing
tattered with the names of those who vanished.

I drank from a cup made of old apologies.
It filled itself.
It never stopped.

Every step I take folds the map behind me.
Cities forget their names.
Doors refuse to open the same way twice.

I once loved a ghost who wore my shadow.
We danced until my bones remembered hers.
She left a mirror in my chest—
now it swallows whatever I feel.

I have a garden where memories sprout
with mouths full of bees.
They hum old griefs.
They sting when touched.

At night, the stars spell warnings backward.
I read them anyway.

You’ll find me where the river runs uphill,
where the moon casts no light, only questions.
I won’t knock.

I never left.
I only waited
until the story needed me again.
